I used to work for CHUM Radio in Windsor. Your not kidding about friendly people. As "friendly" as the people are in my area, I'm surprised Detroit hasn't invaded Windsor.

I would not show that as a before and after picture. It looked like it had broken both the inner and out layer, can I still see a leg showing bit difficult to see. This is extreme damage by showing examples like this you are putting the bar to high. Nice simple bullseye, combination or starbreak and then when you get a complicated damage you will not be asked for perfection. JMHO

And you are right about setting the bar too high. I was proud of how well that repair went. But I totaly agree not to promise the sky. I'll have to get some other pics up this weekend.

I went to some local auto windshield dealers to ask for a piece of scrap auto glass to practice on and they were quite surly so I snuck around to the back and was rooting around in their dumpster for some scrap and they saw me and told me to get the #^)&%$ out of there. I left.
So determined to get me a piece of scrap I went back on a Sunday after church dressed in a suit etc.
I am sure I looked quite comical rooting around in a dumpster all dressed up.
I found what I was looking for and took my booty home.
Cutting off the good part of what you want is a bit of a task but possible.
I taped me a metal yardstick to the glass making sure it wouldn't move and zipped me a down line, scouring it two to three times in the same place with a glass cutter.
I did this in several places on one side to cut them into 12" squares.
I turned the glass over and did this on the other side.
With something round like a small ball-peen hammer give the glass a sharp "rap" directly on the scoured line and you should have a clean break.
As you try to seperate the pieces you will have to cut the plastic membrane holding the windshield together. Thus done you will have several practice plates. I stood a good ways off and shot mine with a bb gun. To close and it makes a monster crack.
Having two bb cracks on one of these, one repaired, one not is a good way to show customers the before and after.
A good sales presentation and good practice too.
