Mike,
As well, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
But your post really hit home. Sometimes one can be so focused on "minor" matters, that one is insensitive to the truly important things.

Dave M wrote:Just wanted to add to my last post. If you use Glass Comp for Safelite Network claims, you need a "dealer number" on each invoice sent.
Will safelite give you a dealer number if you have not been in business for a year?

That's what I ran into. I couldn't sign up with Lynx or Safelite without being in biz for one year. GlassComp wouldn't accept me until I was a member of the network. That's what I was told when I called each of them. Another member recommended signing up with ACT. They will put you on the list with the networks w/o the wait. Give a couple of months to get comfortable with WSR, then sign-up with GlassComp. Since you will be on the network list, the 1yr req won't matter. I haven't done this yet because I'm still in the research phase. I contacted a WSR guy near me and he's gonna give me some tips and show me the ropes. I hope to be starting soon. I just need to come up with some starting capital.

As far as pricing goes, I called everyone in the book and priced myself 5.00 less. Now have a selling point ( everyone wants a deal ), and think I get a little more biz this way. Also go into car dealers the same way, just a bit cheaper than the rest but it works for me.
Now I know there will be some of you guys out there getting pissed reading this, but new people need a way in the door. I know nobody wants to loose business because someone is willing to work for less, but face it happens all the time out there.
I saw it all the time when doing paint touch up and pdr work, that market has gone to hell around here. I was a very good painter but could not compete with the rest.
Not recomending price fixing or plain old giving it away, but if we dont stray too far from the competitions prices there should be enough to go around for everyone.
