Resin Dropper Problems
Im just wondering what metheds you use to get the resin in the delta injector. I have tried there brown bottel with the dropper in it. I found the rubber dropperr kept comming off the glass tube, so I stoped that. I then would remove the cap and use the dropper. I found the resin would harden in the tube and I have to drill it out to use it again. I then just reused one of the small plastic bottels that 15ml comes in. When it gets low I refill it. WELL to day as I was counting the dripps I was putting in the injector the nozzel end poped out of the bottel and ALL my resin went down the glass! To say I wasn't impressed would be a under statement. SO has anyone sourced a bottle they use for holding resin? Im looking for something that holds more than just 15ml and I can toss out after a couple of refills to avoid this happening again. Any ideas would be great!
Thanks
Thanks

The best method I've seen was to use the dropper and keep the top on the bottle. Cleaning the dropper with a little alcohol after each use. It is a bit cumbersome, but prevents the dropper getting stopped up.

The only way this happens is if you use the dropper as a cap. In all instruction manuals and videos, it specifically says to NOT use the dropper as a cap. The dropper is made from rubber (unlike the end seals) and is susceptible to degradation from the resin. Use the dropper ONLY for dropping resin.jonnyques wrote:I found the rubber dropperr kept comming off the glass tube
I'm not sure what this means. I assume you're stating that resin is hardening in the dropper. The dropper's very simple. Remove cap off resin, get resin with dropper, put resin in injector, use alcohol to remove extra resin from dropper, remove dropper from light. If you're following each of those steps in order resin will NOT harden in the dropper.jonnyques wrote:I found the resin would harden in the tube and I have to drill it out to use it again.
These are not made for reuse. We sell them empty as well, so if you want bottles to fill, we can provide those.jonnyques wrote:I then just reused one of the small plastic bottels that 15ml comes in

This is one of the main reasons I was trying to get you to come to training in Florida while you're at the Expo.
If you are holding the dropper or bottle (whichever you're using at the time) out far enough to count the drops, your repairs are suffering. The resin needs to be injected from as far down the barrel of the injector as possible. If you're counting out 7 drops where you can see them fall, you're not getting enough resin in your repairs.
Solution:
1. Come to training. In one day, we can straighten out this problem and likely quite a few others. It will be the best money you ever spent. If not, i'll refund it.
2. Use the brown bottles AND CAPS with the dropper tip. Fill the dropper to the top of the curve, put the dropper as far down into the injector as you can, squeeze quickly. Clean dropper, and put CAP back on bottle.
You can reuse brown bottles over and over, and the dropper, while not designed to last a lifetime, will last quite a while.

Re: Resin Dropper Problems
I personally transfer resin from bottle into 1ml plastic bullets with snap cap. I then use a clear plastic pipette (bulb with 3" long stem commonly used in labs) to fill bottom of injector stem. Both the bullets and pipettes can be purchased fairly cheap from most medical supply company's.
Another method is to attach simple cocktail straw to end of eye dropper. Either way you'll get resin to bottom of injector stem where it should be.

Delta Kits,
I do not use Delta equipment so I'm a little lost on your statement above regarding if you are holding the dropper out far enough to count the drops going into the injector, your repairs are suffering. Would you explain!
Thanks!

Resin needs to be injected as far down the barrel of the injector as possible. If you are holding the dropper far enough out to count the drops as they come out, you are not getting the resin nearly far enough down.

Re: Resin Dropper Problems
I am in agreement with Jeff on the dropper issue. You need to get the resin to the seal. If it is droppped down the barrel of the injector a fair amount is staying in the threads of the injector body away from the seal. I found the solution (at least for me) is to go to your local feed store and pick up some syringes, the kind you use for large animals. The correct size will allow you to reach the bottom of the seal to introduce your resin and a second benefit is for use on glass that is vertical bus's and trucks etc... I hope this helps. Scott :~)

Re: Resin Dropper Problems
Is this because the rsin would sit on the top edge of the seal?

Re: Resin Dropper Problems
There are threads on the inside of the injector, so if you hold the dropper way out to count drops, much of the resin will be lost in the threads.mafsu wrote:Is this because the rsin would sit on the top edge of the seal?
It's pretty simple though. Every instruction manual and video show exactly how much resin to put in the dropper, and how to inject it. Although we sell syringes, they aren't necessary if you follow directions. With the dropper, you simply put it as far down into the injector as it will go and squeeze.

Re: Resin Dropper Problems
johnnyques,
Go to the training! Your not going to get a correct understanding of how your supposed to be doing this until you get some hands on training from people who know what they are doing. I went through the same thing you are going through until I got some real training and it really opened my eyes. I was making it way too hard than what it really is. Luckily I got my trianing after about my 10th bad repair. Dont wait any longer, youll be thanking me when you do. Even though it was only 10, not so good repairs, I still wish I had waited until my trainging. It makes a big difference.
