Hi Dawn,

In my area I'll get $65/15/15 from the RV Centers and $80/20/20 from the individual customer. If you can get $100 for a single, your doing pretty damn good;)

Please explain why you charge more, a chip is a chip regardles of the glass carrier(car, truck , RV, tractor....). If the customers are willing to pay you more because you climb a ladder to repair, then bravo and great marketing, just explain how you justify the difference so others like me can do the same in the future.

I don't know that I agree with charging more for different kinds of vehicles. I certainly am not claiming to know all aspects and considerations of the practice or your thinking of it, but as to what I can see now I do not agree with it. I do a fair number of motorhomes and they are almost always covered by insurance and I just get standard ins rates.

Not only do I charge more for motorhomes but I'll also sell them on a window glass treatment for another $75. Common guys, Class "A" motorhome valued anywhere between $250,000-$500,000, with glass replacement cost between $500-$900. These rates are fair, reasonable and consistant with the $90 per hour labor rate that RV centers charge to work on these units and yes, I always charge more for chips on trucks than cars!

Maybe Jeff could put up one of his nifty polls to see how many other repair techs charge more for motorhomes and trucks;)

Greetings WSR Techs,

I'm with Yvan & Brian. I've done repairs on buses that were made in Germany. This was years ago. The manager who authorized the repairs, back then, told me that each side of the windshield were $5,000 each. I charged $40.00! Did I get gypped?

PS: Plus I was on a 10' step-ladder w/nose bleeds and all :) It's scary up there.
