A C T

Can anyone tell me who is the originator of A C T? I know that delta kits has some kind of deal going with them . I am thinking about using them at my tent setup on weekends. I am just about fed up with SGC'S steering tactics that they do on MY phone with my customers.

Reggie, I do believe that the folks at Liquid Resins started ACT.

As well, I advise my customers (prior to our calling in the repair) of this "evil" steering practice and their right to choose whomever they desire to repair the WS. Then, I call the network, advise of my intent to initiate a repair and when they ask to speak to the customer, I advise that they are being placed on speakerphone. As soon as I hear an attempt to steer, I smile at my customer and give them one of those "I told you so" gestures. Usually the customer chimes in and advises that they do not appreciate being steered and that they have chosen me to repair their WS. If not, I get back in the loop/conversation and steer the network right back to me.

Autoglass Claims Team (A.C.T.) had been around before, but Liquid Resins purchased it in 2000.

I use ACT, but call in and get the authorization # for all the major providers for the reduced processing rate. No sweat at all really. I let ACT do all the leg work on the obscure providers. It works out all in all very well and am happy with it.
BTW
All the insurance companies have been decent to me on the phone except for farmers. They have sly ways of working with safelite to bung up a chip claim trying to reduce payouts. I am SURE others of you have had the same things done to you. Farmers also does audits on select old chip repairs. DON'T ever lose an invoice with these guys. I don't know what they will do to you if you do, but I don't want to find out.

Scratchy, What do you consider Old?
I havn't had that occur as yet. Just curious.
Oh and yes I use the ACT program and am happy with them, I too prequalify as much as I can for the reduced rate and let them do the follow up, it's convienient!! Scott
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

I have heard a lot about SGC and their steering. I have not yet experienced that...but I do know that they are very slow and do not have a quality tracking system. It has been almost 2 weeks since my last invoice was processed through Data Tranz and I cannot track it through SGC. How long must we tolerate this? (By the way, Data Tranz notifies me by email when they transmit it to SGC).

Reggie,
As I recently learned, if you call the number on the back of the customers insurance card and get an approval, claim, job whatever number then call act and give them that number and some other info they will only charge you 7.50. Dont forget when the ins. agent asks for your fax number be sure to give him the ACT fax number. :)

Maxryde,

I'm also with ACT and was recently audited by Farmers. I had to fax an invoice that was nearly 2 months old, back to ACT.

As I have stated on this forum before, the latest trick by Safelite and Farmers is to call back your customer and offer to waive the deductible for replacement. Naturally it appears this only happens when your customer has a low deductible. The game is that if your customer accepts to take the offer then you don't get paid, after all why would a customer replace a windshield if the repair was good.

I counter this by doing several things.

1) Tell the customer the factory seal is better than replacement. Why risk a leaky replacement. Further I tell them about the safety of what a windshield does in an accident.

2) I tell them about the steering and the game Farmers and Safelite play. I tell them if they have a problem to let me know. Besides telling them that if they are offered the replacement for FREE and they accept it, that I don't get paid, but should they need their windshield replaced a second time they may be looking at cancellation.

3) Most people who have Farmers state the only reason that they have Farmers is because they are cheap. Most also complain about the poor service. I always let them know that my agent advertises that they beat Farmers prices and can provide better coverage and service. Yes I actively work at getting people to switch from Farmers. To date I have talked to several people who have switched.

I wish everybody good luck against the evil empire.

So in all actuality if i call the # on the back of the card I still have to deal with the steering of sgc , would do just as well by invoicing myself. I invoiced a safelight bill via internet the other day hope it works out ok
