State Farm Notice

Post by StarQuest »

Well guys,

Much to my surprise, Michigan was one of the 7 states selected by State Farm to test their "no waived deductibles on repair" It will go into effect starting December 1st, 2005. It should be interesting to see where these changes take us and how we adapt to them. I currently do very little insurance work but think I will take advantage of this upcoming change by saturating my market area (May thru November) with "DON'T WAIT, FREE REPAIR NOW TILL DECEMBER" WSR advertisements directed specifically towards State Farm insureds. I suggest every state selected on this list jumps on this wagon and takes full advantage of this opportunity. Why wouldn't you? Money to be made in all this;) I haven't come up with a catchy ad yet but I'm sure some of you have some great ad ideas to share, which I'd love to hear!

Lets show State Farm that we individually still control repair and not them;)

Look forward to your responses.

I think that is a great idea. Barring any legal rammifications, I think it would be prudent to look in to what if any recourse the folks at State Farm can do to a person who uses their name on an ad campain? We will be in the trial too as a vendor in Washington state so I will inform all my customers of the impending changes as I have allready, the most recent customer (yesterday) said he will concider changing carriers as a result!! I wonder if they have a large customer migration if that would be enough to persuede them to reconsider their stance on the issue? I do a fair amount of Ins work so it will undoubtedly impact the way we market to all customers!
Luck to all, Scott
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

This is going to be the order of events as I see it.
1. SF announces change. (done)
2. WSR guys hit it hard: Get your free WSR NOW before its too late.
3. Customers call agents and say they are cancelling after December and making the switch to GEICO. jingle on (saving hundreds of dollars or more on car insurance!) jingle off
4. 1000's of SF agents call screaming at corporate HQ that they are losing money and policy holders.
5. HQ reverses the decision and promotes SF as again having the best glass coverage in america hoping to bring people back.
6. Monthly premiums all go up anyway.
