Reaching Repair
Reaching Repair
Just wondering how of some of you guys line up your injector w/ the center of the repair on trucks and higher vehicles w/out having to climb on top of the hood. Thanks for your time.
Re: Reaching Repair
Most if the time I will just use the reflection of the seal on the glass. Give it a try works pretty good....

Re: Reaching Repair
On trucks and higher vehicles that have breaks where I cannot directly look down the injector throat, I will actually hold a small hand mirror over the injector and hold it at an anlgle so that I can see down the "throat" of the injector from virtually any position. This allows me to "verify" that the center of the pit is in the center of the seal before I drop the resin down the injector throat.
I use a spot mirror on the inside of the vehicle, but on trucks and higher vehicles, the handy little hand-held mirror helps me keep everything lined up before I comit resin.
I think my wife gave me the little mirror from her makup kit. It's about 2" wide X 3" long.

Re: Reaching Repair
I use an awl from the local hardware store, just drop it down the throat and it points where the seal will meet the shield.
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

Re: Reaching Repair
I do the same as Maxryde only I use a really skinny philips head screwdriver instead of the awl. Works great. No guesswork.

Those plastic coffee stirrers work great, and if you drop one it wont scratch anything.

Re: Reaching Repair
The LR injector has a probe built in it and it sticks to the vert glass better than anything else I have used and the front load makes it easy on vert as well

Use a mirror inside the cab no problem.

Re: Reaching Repair
When I first started I utilized a stainless steel probe to center injector over pit but after 2 months of repairs it became pretty simple to just use your eyes to align. The more truck repairs you have under your belt the easier these things seem to get;)
