WS Storm Damage

Post by Bois »

Have any of you worked directly with insurance companies doing WSR in areas hit by a hurricane (including inland areas)? Or, have you ever gone into an area after a storm to do WSR? Is there a need? Or, do victims have bigger issues to deal with and aren't interested in WSR?

Hurricane Rita is moving up in east TX as I write this. I'm wondering if it would be worth my time to take my RV and drive into imapcted areas to drum up business?

Layne, do you have any plans? I know your area will be hit hard.

Forget it, you can make alot of money with a chain saw and a satellite dish allignment meter, but not with your wsr kit. We took a direct hit from Frances and Jeanne last year and people went 7-10 days without power no less having their lives turned upside down. I did no dealer repairs for two months as well for my friends who do paint, pdr and interiors. I thought there was an instant marker for glass scratch removal from all the calls coming in but no one wanted to pay a fair price for it. I made it through that time by lining up satellite dishes, it's funny that most people care more about tv than their cars. I am now in the hurricane shutter buisness since then and make a good living, also all aluminum trades and screeners, roofers are still making real good money.

Why not just get a bunch of BODY BAGS and go to these areas of mass destrution and bag the corpses and hold them for ransom. I'm sure someone will buy them, maybe you can sell them to a school that trains Doctors. Also you can pick up some aluminum cans to cover your cost of fuel OR STRAP A MATRESS TO YOUR BACKS.

I don't think you get Bois' point. He is a straight up kind of guy looking to help out. WSR might work in the affected area in addition to the other things pointed out. We had alot of evacuees in our town this weekend and I got lots of calls! My ad says we are seven days a week so people were calling me for information on where to get stuff in this town. Who would have guessed they'd be calling me? Disasters are kind of surreal. Yesterday a guy bought a Porsche down near the gulf, drove it back and got a chip. He followed me to my house to get it fixed! Who the heck is buying a Porsche when a hurricane is coming ashore?
