Up and running (new guy with billing question)

Post by Wright Fix »

Hello,
Well, I have been reading this list and am really impressed with the information. I have been riding with a seasoned tech of 18 years and have been practicing on every windshield I can find.

The tech I am working with bills through EDI Quest and is signed with Lynx and Safelite. However, he is so established it is difficult for him to walk me through the process. Maybe, I am a little slow on picking this aspect up. He has been a very skilled resource for repairs, marketing, and ins and outs of the trade. Now I need help with billing. Frankly, it scares me. I was wondering if anyone has created a comprehensive faq or ebook.

So, please help??????????????

Glad to be aboard

WF,

I wish you much luck in your new business venture.

1. Search the forum regarding network signup requirements. Some networks require insurance and a 1 year history of business operation (as well as a picture of your vehicle with business graphics?;)

2. EDI billing/interface providers in question should be able to provide you with all of the tech support that you need in order to utilize their service. They should be able to advise as to how to submit any online forms, faxes and what information they require to invoice the respective networks/inscos. on your behalf.

3. KISS - IOW, don't make things harder than they are. You do not have to signup with the networks or utilize EDI in order to bill insurance companies for a job. Just ensure that your invoice/work-order has all of the appropriate info. and that you receive authorization/approval from the insured's claim department. You can then submit your invoice to the company and it will ultimately be forwarded/processed for payment.

In essence, joining the nets and using EDI services can certainly accelerate receivables and aid in avoiding steering attempts while your customer is on the phone with their "claim" department, but this is not mandatory.

Thank you Dave,

I am a fairly driven person and tend to make things hard for myself. It helps to know that I can bill without the networks. Any other feedback is greatly appreciated.
