Should finding a spot be so hard?

Post by Jeff5858 »

I have been looking to find a area where I can setup my tent.
I have talked to 6 different areas, all good areas for permission to put up the tent.
Heb
walgreens
wallmart
randals
shell gas station
Texaco gas station

most of these places are saying I need to pay them up to $700 a month!! in order to be a parking lot vender.

Do you really have to pay that kind of money in order to get the prime spots??

Jeff, It can be hard to secure a location for a reasonable price. I have found that an offer to repair the customer or landlord's shields as an incentive is a wway to swing the vote so to speak. It is not an unreasonable price at the $700 mark. I know folks who pay more for a WSR spot and they do ok at it. I don't pay near that but I'm in a rural location where the population is very low so I have to be creative to get by. Good luck finding a location and just try offering a percentage and then go from there.
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

Try a per Day Rate $25-$50 is reasonable depending on the location work there certain days find another location to work the others people will start to know when you are there and you get double penetration that way For eaxample the buisness district during the week and the carwash or liquor store on the weekend

Hello all, I must say thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge with the rest of us. Nothing beats experience. After spending the last 15 years as an ASE Master Technician working on making A few Chrysler,Dodge,Jeep dealerships a whole lot O' money. I have decided to make windshield repair my fulltime career. I have been doin wr on an every so often basis. I am wondering if there is anyone in the San Antonio or Austin area that is willing to let me tag along with them for a couple of days. I am willing to provide your gas for the duration or what ever you think is fair. I would like to get up to date on the structure of daily business as a wr tech. Feel free to holler if I can help you in the automotive diagnostic & repair relm. Thanks, Bryan
