Well 1st let me say that yesterday was my 1st official day of cold calling. I was able to get one repair in and have great leads on an EMS fleet and a 50 car used car lot out near the EMS location. It was a great feeling being on my own time. Today will bring more adventure.
I'm writing to tell you all a story. I had my best friend call the used car manager at a large chevrolet dealer in Boerne,TX. They have worked together and are good friends. I asked my buddy to get info like prices and such. Here is the reply he got.
"My windshield girl was out the other day, she come's every two or three weeks. There was also another wr guy out there trying to get my business. He was a persistant sole. By the time the price war was over, my original wr girl did the chips on the lot for FREE! I made out pretty good, huh?"
Ok, after I stopped laughing,I realized those 2 techs were not doing anyone any good by minimizing our service like that. Although a point was being made it was sad to hear the used car manager obviously didn't have much loyalty to his regular wr girl. Remember....Do quality work, do what you say you'll do, and be professional. People get bad service in their daily life and if we have a good conversation with them while fixing their chip, that is refreshing to them. This in turn will get referrals. Ok I'm going on and on.Anywho, I just wanted to pass that on.
a good story
