Lesson learned today :)
Lesson learned today :)
I had been calling a local used car dealer for months and he always says he is good. Today I finally did what Dave and everyone else has been telling me to do. Just go search the lot,, he tells me everytime that he's cool and don't have any chips. Well today I decided to just stop by, I talked to him and asked if it was ok to lot over the lot. He said yeah go ahead and take a look. I found a least 8 chips LOL Well he doesn't want them all repaired but at least Monday I am going back and gonna do at least 5 or more of them. So anyone that is new do what the old timers tell you LOL don't just call and take there word for it. Thanks to everyone for finally making me realize.
thanks

Way to go tooldini. Be persistent. I got a lot of my dealers after about 4 months of weekly stops by their lots. I always mark the windshields with a paint pen so next trip I do not have to look at those so close.

I got a call today from a used car dealer that I've been trying to get in with for 5 months. He has always said that he doesn't repair windshields on his lot and that walking the lot would be a waste of my time. He's now ready for a demo (free repair). I go out tomorrow. While there I will insist on a walk through. If not WS repair, maybe some headlights. Maybe...:eusa_pray

Seems like you have to do a walk thru I bet most are probably just not aware they have some chips. Headlight restoration sounds like something good to get into. I see so many that are yellowed and dirty you can hardly see thru them LOL

Bois.. just be carefull..the reason he called and wants a free repair might be they sold the car and the customer wanted the window fixed before picking it up?? just a thought..definetely walk the lot and if there is other work and he doesnt want any else done he is using you and i would walk away..no free repair..hey but that would be me..you gotta do for yourself..it sure sounds fishy to me..
Re: Lesson learned today :)
Newbe question. I pick up a used car dealer last week. Went to do several chips this a.m.. The first one i started filled in fine. when I went to scrape off the resin the last bit of resin came off and so did a chip of glass. I have never had that happen before. My question is will the Delta pit resin fill the hole. I just order it and am hoping this will do the job. I don't want to lose this acct. I might have to pay for replacement windshield. He has 2 lots and both have several cars that need repair. Your help is needed. Thanks Rich.
Re: Lesson learned today :)
rich39..all is not lost...yes pit filler will fill it in ..never pay for a windshield on used car lot!!!!!!!!! they know ther is a slight chance it could break while fixing..would they expect you to replace an expensive window like bmw or mercedes or saturn for a$ 25 0r 35 repair???..dont let them intimadate you..in 21 yrs i have never replaced a window on a used car lot bye the way sometimes not often glass around pit could be brittle or loose and come off like it did with you..it has happenned to me over the yrs..just makes a little bit bigger pit
Re: Lesson learned today :)
MR. CHIP THANK YOU FOR RESPONSE. I couldn't belive it happened. They didn't ask to have the window replaced. That was my thinking under my breath. I just wasn't sure that it could be saved. I have never had to do a pit before and wasn't sure about the process any ideas to make sure it will work. Thanks Rich
