Cleaning the windshield after a repair

Post by Sneck »

I always clean the customers entire windshield after I repair it.

The problem is I have yet to find a glass cleaner that actually cleans the glass. I have always kept a spray bottle of windex with me and and lots of paper-towels. And I just gotta say that I have never ever been able to obtain a streak-free shine on the customers windshield using Windex. They should re-name their product "streak-max" or "mega-streak"

I actually got much better results cleaning the windshield with plain old tap water from a spray bottle and a white scrubbing pad.

I actually have been telling my customers that I guarantee the repair, but I cannot guarantee a streak-free shine. - (Joking with the customer of course) but I'm serious. The only thing windex is good for in my book is suction cup lubricant.

What do you techs use that will clean a windshiled (especially in the hot sun!)

I find that any excess half cured resin is a smudgy mess to clean off sometimes.

Sneck,

There are some good products out there I have used and I like them.
Dirtex by Savogran (you will be able to find it at Lowes) and something that I currently use is the Invisible Glass by Stoner. This one you will be able to get a set of four for $10.00 at your local Sams Club.
I have used also Sprayway which is OK.

Any of these will work. So far the one I found to be the best is the "Invisible Glass".

I use a regular glass cleaner called Glassex, something like Windex (we don't get them here in Malaysia) 1st. Then, proceed with water (spray) and only use old newspapers to wipe off.! Great, cheap and fast cleaning.

Sneck--
Hey, I dont mean to change the subject, but do you get business from your website? It looks very nice. Im doing a website right now but am debating it because of other forums on here... but I thought I would ask.
Thanks!
