Antisun tinting on interlayer
Can anyone give me advice on how to improve the finish on a windscreen that has the " Antisun" tint on the interlayer. This type of tinting is common on French cars, especially Renaults. I did a repair today and the glass damage repaired fine but there was a footprint left where the interlayer had separated from the outer layer of glass. Looking at the glass from the outside, it has a purply/blue tint and is designed to reduce heat convection through the glass.

Sounds like a PPG Sungate type windshield. If that is what you are talking about, nothing you can do. This is a situation that must be explained to the customer before starting the repair. This job puts the true meaning to windshield repair being structural, not cosmetic since the stone chip will be successful but will leave an ugly scar.

The same type of windshield is also found on the Pontiac Aztec and Silhouette.
Mercs have a similar type windshield but has a blue hue to them.
