PVB = Polyvinyl Butyral. It's the laminate layer in between the two sheets of glass on a windshield.

Polyvinyl Butyral or the plastic inner layer to the less technicaly minded. This should have been one of the first things taught to you on your first day at training.

There I go getting my bit in about poor training.

L.R.,

Good to ask questions, better than never knowing!

Polyvinyl Butyral Film (PVB) is sandwiched between two sheets of glass.

With regard to vehicle windshields it provides two basic functions. One, is that it offers the protective qualities needed to prevent objects from passing through windshield. Secondly, it provides a UV barrier to interior and occupants.

To further understand this more think about bullet proof glass? Bullet proof glass is constructed by using multiply layers of PVB and glass. Each individual layer will absorb and slow down the entry of a projectile.

L.R I was not meaning to question you, just that training is important in this business and the standard of it in general is very low. I am not tecnically minded and tend to describe the PVB to most customers as the sandwich filling between 2 slices of bread.
