need advice
Has anyone used the Ding King windshield repair kit? If not do you know of any techs that have used it. I went to Ding King in April to take their class and I also purchased their kit. I have done some repairs for friends and co-workers and I think the repairs turned out really good. But I am really not very experienced in this field and was wanting a professional opinion on the Ding King kit and the quality of their resin. I am only doing this part time right now until I get comfortable, but would like to go full time later on. If I ever upgrade my kit I will probably go with delta. Any info on DKs kits is greatly appreciated.

Re: need advice
you get what you pay for. As with any get proper training and use the SEARCH feature.
Re: need advice
The Ding King kit was not cheap. It was about $1000 with 1 day of training. I know thats not a lot but when I searched for wr training, they seemed to be the best. I never found this forum until now. I used the search feature for this website and there is nothing for Ding King except my post. I would just like to know how my kit compares to other top kits, if anybody knows. I want to be the best I can be, and use the best kit available.

JAGON,
Welcome to the forum!
From what it looks like (I could be wrong), Ding King's system is either a rebranded GT system or a knock off. Most likely a rebranded GT system though. So if you search for Glass Technologies on this forum, you'll find info on their system.
Hope that helps!

Re: need advice
I can not speak to your brand of equipment. I would assume you did some research and for what ever reason this company best matched your needs. Unless you have had specific problems with this mfg. since your decision, then be confident in your choice/decision and be the best you can be with ding king. At least recoup your investment. If and when you are no longer happy then revisit new tooling. Asking for opinions opens yourself up to a broad spectrum of views no matter what brand you would have selected. We all feel our choices are the best. Anyway welcome and good luck.

Re: need advice
Can I ask these question and I will answer about Ding King does it have a dry out system, UV cover and bullseye popper?
33,000 + screen repairs over 18 years and still learning.

Re: need advice
It does not have a dry out system or UV cover. I am not for sure what a 'bullseye popper' looks like. It does have a rubber band with a weighted ball in the middle that I use to make practice breaks. I basically stretch the band out across the glass and pull the ball back and snap it to create damage. Is that a bullseye popper?screenman wrote:Can I ask these question and I will answer about Ding King does it have a dry out system, UV cover and bullseye popper?

JAGON,
I personally have no experience with this company or their products but I do have some concern about you spending $1000 for equipment and 1 day training course that should've at least covered all the basics.
Would you mind sharing some additional information as to what they did teach you?

Re: need advice
They did teach me some of the basics. Obviously not everything. I actually got hands on experience with long cracks and combination breaks. When I was at the school I had absolutely no problems at all making the repairs. These were fresh breaks so they had no moisture or other contaminants to deal with. I was never told about a moisture evaporator. He said to clean a contaminated break; you can take it to a car wash and power wash the damage and use pressurized air to remove the moisture left from the car wash. Is this correct? I have already searched this website and found different ways of removing contaminants and moisture. Has anyone tried using a professional grade steamer to clean out cracks? I tried it on a long crack and removed the moisture with air pressure. Then I let it set out in the sun for a while. The crack turned out better than planned. I work for a professional cleaning company so I have access to those type of steamers. Would I be better off getting more training or just going to work for a already established wr company? Thanks for any advice. I really like this business alot.StarQwest wrote:JAGON,

Re: need advice
Never mind,
Just visited their web site and seen and read all I need too!
My suggestion is try to locate a seasoned tech in your area to help you out with some additional hands on training in repair.
