Help a new guy!

OK. I am not only new, but green as can be.

I have yet to even buy a set or be trained.

I am skilled in mechanical aspects. I am a lic and trained lock smith. A semi truck owner operator, a land lord and a farmer. I also own a grocery store and a auto body shop. The body shop is ran with out my control. I have good folks.

Glass repair has been a area I have had interest in for about 7 years since I had a guy come out and repair a windshiled. He did the job in about 30 mins and it was perfect. I could not tell were the reair was.

Now that I truck. I have had my windshield repaired many times. MOST ARE VERY BAD REPAIRS. I can almost always see the repair areas.

I'll throw you glass repair guys a bone. I have my glass replced in my truck at least 3 times a year and repired 4-10 times. There are laws that the DOT use. All it takes is a rock chip over the steering wheel and my truck is shut down till fixed. (If a scale house or inspector catches it).

Ok. My biz plan is to do this as a hobby. Out of my truck and maybe in the auto body shop when I am home. I can turn alot of biz at a truck stop. There are glass replacment guys that only work truck stops.

I have looked at many companies. Delta and Liquid Resins are my number one options. I prefer Liquid Resins so far. They are close to me and I can go complain to them in person if needed.

So can any one throw me a bone. How are liquid? I have chatted with them on the phone a few times. I like the support. Delta has been spoken with but I did not get a vibe of biz just sell, sell, sell.

I would think a person could mix the two and have a great operation.

Any comments please. Just a note. I am not looking to focuse on insurace work. Just semi truck work. 90% of semi trucks have no insurance on the glass as it is replaced more then head lights.

Are you sure you spoke to Delta Kits? They are about as low pressure sellers as you can get. They also have a great customer service/tech support system in place. Are they they best? Well like everything in life...for some they are and some there not. One thing is for sure though, DK makes top quality equipment and supplies. If you are considering DK still, I would give them another call.

I second that SGT, DK imo are the best windshield repair company I have delt with, and they are always there to answer your questions and for tech support if needed. Call them again, set up your training and buy a kit and practice! Good luck

I would definitely like to know who you spoke with here at Delta Kits. We, as a company, pride ourselves on NOT doing the "sell sell sell." So, if you can remember, let me know, or even if it was a man or woman. You should never get that vibe from talking to anyone here at Delta Kits.

I really do not know the name of the guy I spoke with. It has been about 2 months. I just remember how it seemed to me as they were more about getting a set up to me any set up.

I emplained I was calling to seek advice on there products not purchase at this time.

I am still considering Delta. Them and liquid resins. I Think Liquid appeals a little more to me as they are only about 70 miles away from me.

I just do not want to waste money by not buying top quality. I think that is why I am kinda at a stand still.

I think I am more seeking advice from folks that have used the differant s and ones and maybe give some pro's and con's.

I have used both the Delta Kits & the Liquid Resin & to me it seemed that the Delta was a better quality (liquid resin's bridge is all plastic, or polly) system & does a much better repair. Also in my experiance with L.R. they do not have the customer service that Delta Kits has. Verry supprised by your "sell sell sell" experience with Delta Kits as that is the experiance I had with Liquid Resins! Best of luck to you!!!

Go for Delta and get started before someone else does in your area. Great tools and even better people.

Do a google search as there are some other companies that also sell good quality equipment and resins and have good support also.Try and get educated about what is out there before commiting yourself thats all.I know that I spent alot of time researching and learning before I spent the dollars.Some companies have nice dvd info kits to help you in your search.Good Luck.
