Dear Mr. Martin:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the taxability of windshield repair.
You state:
"I repair rockchip damaged windshields. 99% of my repair is labor with about 8-10 cents worth of resin used. Do I need a sales tax license to continue in
business and do I charge sales tax on labor?

Wow! You Texans are lucky... Finaly, I can say "Mine is bigger than yours" about Texas! I just with we were taking about something other than productivity fines (taxes). :)

Jerry,
I did repairs in Texas for 5 years. You do not have to collect sales tax in the State of Texas. WSR is clasified as labor, no tax is collected on labor. If you collect tax for WSR you will be the only one in the entire state. Hope that helps.
