eDirect server speed
I have been using eDirect for quite awhile and I have only one complaint. It seems that when processing invoices it is extrememly slow when you make a field entry and need to move to the next field or page. I am not being impatient here either, it is slow. I called eDirect and they said there server was running fine which suggested it was on my side. I would agree with that but I have had this issue from multiple computer sources that have a cable connection or higher which would allow for better speeds.
I guess this would only apply to those who use eDirect for there EDI software interface or computer techie.
Does anyone else have these issues with cable or better connection?

I also have cable and at the shop I was at we had T-1, edirect is also slow for us too. I think maybe they have so many ads slowing it down.

Re: eDirect server speed
The only complaint I have is that sometimes I get a job from Lynx and it does not show up in e-direct glass. I have to go to Lynx website and have them re/fax the dispatch. It is a good thing I actually write down the appointment after I schedule it in a note pad. I have not had any problems with submitting invoices. What type of internet connection do you have?

Edirect does seem slow at times. I have cable which is fast and I like it. I think we are getting in to much of a rush at times.

Yeah, we have DSL and the speed has always been an issue.
Have you guys had any trouble with finding the vehicle through the VIN? I've had several VINs that were in the system but not able to figure out the exact make and model.

Yes, happens often. Make sure you write down all vehicle info from the insurance card AND the actual vehicle badging. I have at times selected, not actually knowing what was right ex.. ES,LS,GT,GLS and have not had any kickbacks.
I have also had issues with the VIN being right on the card and vehicle and get kicked back after entry. Called lynx to verify and overide and later ended up with a 7.50 lynx fee.
There are burps with most things electronic but the whole speed thing really annoys me. Other than that I find eDirect a very usefull tool.

Re: eDirect server speed
Greetings eDirectGlass users!
I have been reading this thread and would like to respond to some of the comments.
For the speed issue, there are many factors that impact speed and performance of eDirectGlass. We have found that the best performance is achieved when you utilize a business-grade DSL or Cable connection. If you are using a "consumer" DSL or Cable connection, your bandwidth is treated differently and in the case of Cable, your bandwidth available is the sum of available bandwidth in your neighborhood.
Aside from bandwidth, there are other items that will affect performance:
1) Hardware or Software firewall. We recommend that you put the eDirectGlass URL in the safelist or safe zone.
2) Security Centers (Norton, etc.). Again, you want to make sure that if your PC is running one of the combination security suites by Norton or McAfee, add the eDirectGlass URL to that safe or trusted list.
3) Configure Internet Explorer secuirity settings properly. The big item here is to add the eDirectGlass URL to the Trusted Site tab. Contact our tech support for the correct settings for Ineternet Explorer.
As for the VIN decoding, we are aware of certain truck models that do not decode properly and we monitor these "errors" when you see the pop-up on your screen. We are working to correct these issues with our VIN vendor to clear this issue up once and for all.
I thank you for your support and confidence in eDirectGlass and please feel free to contact me in the future if you have any issues with our system.

Re: eDirect server speed
I have turned firewall off, have added the domain to my secure connections, have accessed from SDSL, ADSL, Cable, and even a bursteable T-3 from a freinds business (He operates a local ISP) and the processing speed hasn't changed. Are you guys still having problems?

Re: eDirect server speed
Yes. It probably is one of those no win battles that the effort required to possibly change it far out weighs the speed problem. At this point I would rather put my energy into making money. When my insurance work reaches the level of my fleet work, then it will become a real concern and have to be handled. I guess we all have to decide if what benefits they offer and the price point still outweigh the speed problem compared to other offerings out there.
