Tent Business
Tent Business
Well Iam looking at setting up a tent and found out in my township I only have to pay $50 for a vendor application and that is good for a year.
No bonds or inspections by the fire department like the city was wanting to charge.
I have been scouting out for some heavy traffic areas to look at where to setup shop. And I believe I found a good one (Tractor Supply)
My question is for those of you the run a tent business what is an average price for leasing a parking lot?
I do know I don't want to get into a long lease because if the location is a dud then I can move on to another location.
And do you lease by the day or month?

Re: Tent Business
I have heard of techs on this site arrange with Home Depot and others that they will give a $5 -$10 gift card for their store to each customer that gets repair at that location. Just an idea I read here before.
Re: Tent Business
Do anyone have photos of the tent set-up? we would like to see them.
Thanks

Re: Tent Business
Where about in Michigan are you planning to set up shop? Be sure to check with each city because they all have different rules. We service our local PD and found out that another wsr company is now getting sued by the city because they set up shop without a permit. They currently refuse to take down the tent/trailer setup and needless to say, they
Re: Tent Business
Iam in Jackson county.
I checked with the city for permits and they wanted to charge $500 a year. And then I needed to be bonded, insuranced and on top of that (this parts funny) the fire department needs to inspect your tent to make sure it's fire retardant.
So then I checked outside the city limits where there is still tons of traffic and business in my township. And they only charge $50 for the year and you do not have to be bonded or have an inspection by the fire department.
The insurance part is not a problem because Iam insured I just thought the other stuff was funny.

Re: Tent Business
Same goes for Monroe County Michigan In the city it is really difficult, but when I talked to the township of Monroe they were willing to work some things out but I still needed to be bonded. I tried to find someone to bond me but it seemed like nobody could do that for a windshield repair man LOL. Kinda just gave up after that.

Re: Tent Business
There's no way I could make a tent set-up work for me. I have too much mobile service business to even have time to park in one spot. I cover my fuel expense with a minimal gas surcharge per invoice and people gladly pay it to have the convenience of me coming to them. With the insurance referals, repeat customers, those who respond to my advertising, etc., I couldn't park in one spot for 30 minutes before I'd be called out on a job!
Re: Tent Business
Thats pretty good split pit but don't let lynxservices, Harmon or whomever hear about the gas surcharge that is a NO NO from what I have been told. Look into that and make sure you are doing nothing wrong.

Re: Tent Business
The insurance carrier does not get charged for anything other than the repair. The customer pays the small fuel surcharge. They can avoid it by bringing the vehicle to me but most are glad to pay it for mobile service.
