Hey Guys,
Absolutely a fabulous post and thus needs some advice from the professionals. I have recently joined the dreaded insurance network where a big portion of the reversals is either unrepeatable or just plain failed repairs. With a clear understanding to keep my business a repair company only, this costs me greatly in time and travel.
My question is there any of you that made a business arrangement with a local glass replacement company for failed repair reversals and what business agreement do you have with them? Thank you

Re: Failed repair reversals
Yes it is true that you could at times be sent on a wild goose chase, even after your best attempt to pre-qualify the damage. It has been my experience that quite a few people do not know the difference between a dime or a silver dollar, inch or foot.(This one really burns me up as a customer should be able to accuretley determine size. Certainly not the networks fualt). Rarley do I get a referral that has been previously repaired.(Can not hold the customer at fualt as they do not always know what they are looking at or the network since they never get a chance to see it). That being said there is plenty wrong with the referral system that the networks could improve on.
To remedy this we have set up an agreement with a local glass shop in one are a we service and get a referral fee for all completed replacements. They also now send mobile repair work our way since they do not provide mobile service. For other areas I service, I am brainstorming a possible fee for a wasted service call or something similiar when a customer blatently lies providing it will not be a breech of contract with the networks rather than absorbing it as the cost of doing business.
Although it is not required, take a minute to respect the forums professional members and fill out your profile. It might help you get more replys.

Re: Failed repair reversals
Thanks Brian for your advice. I will have to find a reliable-local replacement company to setup an appointment, is there a fixed percentage you get from the referrals? It would defiantly be to their advantage, as my State provides a zero deductible on windshield replacement.

Re: Failed repair reversals
I did not work out an agreement based on a percentage of each job but a flat fee. You will have to feel it out in your area as each market may be different. Honestly I love when they send work my way as it more $$$$ than what I get from anything I send them.

Re: Failed repair reversals
Brain, you are right reversals are a great way of acquiring business. I have managed to stop at one of the local replacement shops today and the manager was very open to the idea. He offered a $25.00 for a referral and wonder if the price is the going rate for $150-$250 referrals. They provide windshield repair and he was hesitant to refer clients my way but promised to keep me in mind. Once again thanks for the advice
