UV cure light problem

Post by Mr Bill »

This has been bugging me for a while.
My 12 volt UV cure light keeps slipping off the windshield during the cure.
I moisten the suction cups and press firmly against the glass and a few minutes later it slips and disconnects from the windshield before the cure has finished.
How can I make it stay put?
I use a DK 40-13 light.

Just slide the bridge away from the screen whilst leaving it on the screen and rest the light on there. Failing that a large sucker will do the job. I always have a large sucker in the tool box which I put on the screen and wrap the lead of the light around, or rest my vacuum pump on, on trucks this stops thing hitting the deck if they slide off. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAIR-OF-ROLSON-DE ... dZViewItem

I've tried that, run the electric cord around a cuction cup to hold it .
Still then , the other cup from the uv-light lets go and the complete darn thing is hanging on the installed suction cup .
I hate to take the light apart and install better cups, afterall might have to !
To solve a problem, I'm creating another one, where do I find this size cups that fit the uv light ?
I checked Screenman's mentioned site , it shows large ones only , kind off bulky !
I'm open for any suggestion, thanks.

A foot length of gaffer tape on the centre of the body and at 90 degrees to its length. Taped onto the glass above and below the unit will do the job.
Is a customer always right? - No, but they are always the customer.

Gaffer tape , what's that , never heard off , is this the same as ducttape ?
You gave me another idea , what about adhasive Velcron on both ends of the uv-light instead of the 2 suction cups and 2 little strips Velcron on the windshield at each side of the chip , which you remove after the job is done , EUREKA !

Try some hand lotion, even cheap stuff will work well to prevent suction cup coming loose, and will allow it to slide easier too.

You can also try using "Suzie Chapstick" (Lip Balm) on those suckers! Works for me.
