Intro- First Post On Forum.
Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I've been repairing w/s since 1994 p/t. Also doing scratch removal since 2006. I've been a silent viewer for a long while and enjoy the posts. There's always something to learn even if you've been in the business for some time. I look forward to interacting with the forum. And Yes I Did Fill Out A Profile !

Hey gt and brent. Gt, we don't do scratch removal on aircraft. The FAA is a pain. There are a lot of hoops to jump through before you can do do anything on an aircraft. We do some work for some builders and we do autos for scratch removal. We use Glas-Welds system. (If I can say that.)

Hello MGIWx.
When you have been doing windshield repair for a long time (part-time or full-time) it's easy to develop some good habits, and its even easier to develop bad habits too. Keep your mind open and be willing to try new things. Even though w/r is a very simple business, there are lot's of things to be learned from everyone who shares.
I have also been doing windshield repair part-time for 13 or 14 years now. Of course back then there wasn't a forum to participate in and gain invaluable knowledge like there is today.I've been repairing w/s since 1994 p/t.

Hi every body, I started w/r when Novus systems still let you operate free and easy. Also did vinyl repair, then suddenly Novus wanted every one to spend big bucks on franchise fees. I bailed and stopped doing w/r kept on with vinyl repair until it was way too caustic and toxic. I am surfing company's now to leap back into w/r and possibly paint chip repair, would like to get into dent repair also.
I have never heard of Delta before I found this site, am considering Glass Technology, LIquid Resins was big on my list until further researching led me back to Glass Technology.

Welcome to the windshield repair forum Dennis. Obviously I'm biased so I will try to keep my input on this subject to a minimum. If you would like more information or have specific questions about Delta Kits feel free to contact me directly.
The members of this forum use a variety of different systems, so hopefully you will get some input that will be helpful in making your decision from others that are less biased.
What ever system you choose, I wish you the best of luck.

If you are going GT, what system are you thinking? I used the machine like the Maxum, But I use the Spectum now.. Verry nice... I use a LR just to do Vert. Glass.
I did start off working for a NOVUS in 1990 and was asked by everyone to open my own. That did not take long.

For the price of wind screens. They should repair them. I am familiar in this line.
A small set of screens both sections is 30-60k for a C 21. They can be repaired. For only hundreds.
Testing has shown repaired structure and follow back on duck and chicken testing to BETTER then new levels. Getting a repair tech certifed to make these repairs is not easy. A A/P cert is prefered. Once they are. They sign their own ticket.

Yes this work is being done on aircraft. As I have posted before the system we use on a limited situational basis is Micromesh, please do not think that you can run out and buy a kit and start making a fortune working on airplanes. FAR's(Federal Aviation Regulations) mandate that any and all work performed on aircraft has to be documeneted. That being said, are there small FBO's (Fixed Based Operators) with private aircraft owners that have maintenance done on there aircraft without proper documentation? More than likely. Should the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) show up you had better have proper documentation available.
If you have an airframe license, if you are employeed by a company with a repair station certificate you can work under or you do the work under the guidenance of a licensed technician who will sign your work off, then have at it. You do not need to have a powerplant license for this.
Oh, do not forget about insurance and liabity with this line of work!!!!
Should you persue this work, it is not hard to do but I suggest you CYA!
To add some credibility here, I am a licensed FAA Airframe & Powerplant technician for the past 18 years in the commercial aviation sector. "Work Hard, Fly Right".
