I am going to be promoting windshield repair and its environmental benefits at a local Earth Day event this year. There will probably be around a thousand people there and I figured it would be a great way to meet alot of people and hand out business cards. Also the average demographic is a perfect match for our services.
My question is what would you recommed I use or where should I obtain a stand that will hold practice glass at the correct angle to demonstrate repairs and also look professional? I have seen one for sale before but cant remember where.

Re: Windshield Repair Practice Stand
Delta Kits sells windshield repair practice stands from time to time, as do some of the other windshield repair suppliers. Ours are a bit different than most as they break down into 4 parts without the use of tools. All parts are flat and only about 3/16" thick, so it can easily be shipped or even stuffed into a suitcase if necessary.
We used to make our own using PVC pipe. That works reasonably well, but is a bit more of a puzzle to put together and a tad on the bulky side, even when broken down. I also didn't think they looked quite as nice. Still, you can make one yourself out of PVC for just a few bucks and a trip to your local hardware store. They are lightweight and can be pained if you want them to look a little nicer. Unless you plan on giving windshield repair demonstrations on a regular basis, a PVC stand is certainly not a bad option.

I paint pictures for a hobby. My artist's easel makes a great practice stand.
It is very stable and you can adjust the angle to your liking.

I made mine from some finish wood I had laying around. I stapled two Pieces together and cut a slot in the top 2 pieces. (4 total) finish with stain and deft and viola. Took me like an hour. Works great!! Oh and the ones Brent was talkin about are very nice btw.
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

Re: Windshield Repair Practice Stand
I'll have to give that a try. I tried a couple of presentation tripods but they were too flimsy and were easily knocked over at the trade shows. The stand we made for trade shows is pretty nice but was expensive, very large and cumbersome, and weighs 100 pounds or so.Mr Bill;28395 wrote:I paint pictures for a hobby.
