Aquapel As Added Service

Post by lordstanley13 »

I was wondering if anyone has added Aquapel as an added service to their windshield repair. I seen a tent location the other day and the guy had a huge banner for FREE WINDSHIELD REPAIR and Aquapel Application.

He Looked fairly busy when I drove by. He had 4 cars having chip repairs going, and a couple other guys looked like they were applying aquapel..

If any of you use this, what is the going rate to apply it for customers????

lordstanley13,

Why didn't you simply stop at his location and ask him about this? It could be a marketing add on to increase his chips sales. Times are tough in Michigan right now, so my best guess is that he is offering this windshield treatment "free".

I would suggest you just stop in one day and ask... or PM me with a location and I'll provide that for you!

Yes. I wanted to stop by and be nosey. but, unfortunately I had to be somewhere right then. so I really didn't have time. like I said, for things being tight in Michigan, he was pretty busy at that location. he had uv domes on 4 cars and had a couple people applying aquapel on a couple other cars.

we sell aquapel, our cost is around $2 for one application and we sell it for $12 - $19.95 depending on the job/situation.

I would sell it as an add-on upsell or as a package deal. "Hey, we're having a sale on aquapel this week. Aquapel is the glass treatment that helps the water shed off your windshield when you're going down the highway (or get the bugs of, or scrape the ice off depending on time of year and location). Normally it's a $25.00 value, but since we already have service set up for you, we could just do it for $15 more. Would you like to add that to your order?"

If you do 5 wr a day and 1-2 add that on, you're looking at adding a profit of approximately 3,380 - $7,000 by just asking the question.

It sells easily to mom's if they're getting a wr/replace for their kid's car if you push the safety issue. We offer wipers too at $12-20 pair.

Does aquapel have the same effect on damage that rainX does?

That was the next question I was going to ask.

Does Aquapel have the same effects as Rain-X when repairing a windshield?

Also, is Aquapel better, worse or equal to the results of Rain-X?

And thank you for the information on the add-on sell....

As much as I hate RainX, I'd sure hate to be giving my customers a product that has the same potential for contaminating future damage.

$5.00 an applicator???? That is a little steep.. Try checking EBAY and type in Aquapel. They are selling a case of 24, with brochures, and window stickers for a reapply for 86.00 plus 10.00 shipping 2 day.

I just ordered a case about 30 min ago and I am going to try to upsell when I do my repairs next week. I am also going to run a small ad in the local newspaper for a free aqualpel windshield treatment with a chip or crack repair..

I am really thinking that if a customer for insurance referral isnt paying for the chip or crack, I bet they will pay out of their pocket at least 15.00 for the treatment after I am done with the repair.

It is ironic, I was speaking with Steve Shaw at Lynx the other day about an unrelated issue but he brought up the Aquapel product while we were discussing an aviation application. He did say that it works on the molecular level and will not migrate should a chip occur. One thing I did not ask was...

Is there a shelf life of the product?

Seems like a good add on for fleet applications with multiple units but not sure with the small profit margin it is worth individual retail sales unless you are doing a chip and up sell it or they are coming to you for the application. For me, time and gas vs. profit does not make sense if you plan on making it a stand alone mobile service.
