I am new to the windshield repair business. I got setup about a month ago with lynx services yet have not had a single job. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

What you are doing wrong is waiting for Lynx to call you with referrals! That may never happen. You need to get out and make some sales calls and FIND some work. Do some "coitstering" or visit some fleets and dealerships. Oh....have you been properly trained?

I am getting confused here, you have another post about kits which you do not like, you may not even be trained, I assume this because of the kit you purchased. Yet you want the insurers to give you jobs. Please correct me on all these points if I am wrong. Did someone from the doctor's just tell you to register and the work would come rolling in? I have no idea of the quality of repair over in the USA seeing as I have not been there, but over here we now get too see twice as many poorly repaired jobs than we do new damage.

The standard of screen repair in the UK is hovering just below floor level.

I try and answer every question as if it is a genuine one, but does anyone else ever get the feeling we are being wound up?

Not including my now famous April 1st ones. I am already working on next years.

Screenman,
I would have to agree! Only, I'd call it "getting my blood boiling". This is and always will be a great learning forum, but I get so frustrated by some of these posts that ask questions that darn well should have been asked and awswered before purchasing equipment and attempting and expecting to survive.

Fender47,

Unfortunately,

Many who enter this business believe the day they have their equipment and some training (video tape or other) can jump on with the insurance networks and obtain a healthy flow of daily referrals.

The truth is that it doesn't work that way. It may take a year or more to even be considered as a preferred vendor on their rotation list. If your in a large metro area with 20-40 other vendors it becomes even more difficult getting referrals. In a rural area, you'll probably have more success.

If you entered into this business only thinking insurance referrals, you may have to reconsider your sales objectives because the large glass owned TPA's aren't sharing much. We just get what they can't handle!

No need to jump to conclusions about fender's intent. That doen't seem fair.
Let's not be so quick to judge others here.

StarStruck,

Who's jumping to conclusions? Lynx is not going to award a job to anybody that's been in this business for only a few months! With a year under your belt,
maybe but not a newbie! Sorry but that's the truth buddy!

That's not what I meant. I meant to those who accuse him of winding others up or getting others blood boiling. I agree with what you are saying about referals. I don't agree that his intent was to wind others up. I'm just saying one shouldn't judge.
