I started marking on the headlight like all the others venders but as someone test drives a car on a lot they get chip in the glass and if I would mark it as inspected I would miss it, so I look at all the cars to be safe.

We mark all windshields on the drivers side with a paint marker. We have tried different different brands but have not found one that is superior and they all have been messy. It has been my experience that silver seems to hold up the best. We mark windshields not only to know what we have looked at but also to determine what the new vehicles are on the lot. Also give you an indication of how sales are doing. We still look all vehicles over for damage though.

The one marker that I see being used by the dealerships that is superior and have thought about using is the good ole sharpie. They are a little harder to see, limited color choices but appear to withstand the elements and lot washing much better. They are also less messy.

black sharpie dot on headlight
If you are at a lot that a couple WR people service learn where he marks em mark eveything where he does and everytime he drives through he will think there isnt any new stuff to do LOL(IE On the way home you walk and mark so if he gets there before you in the morning he keeps going LOL) Dirty trick sure but I earn my living at this and there is nothing more iratating than a dealer who cant make up his mind about who to use and its catch as catch can

I use a black fine point sharpie. I place a small dot on the dealers demonstration tag.
