I got a great idea (maybe)
I got a great idea (maybe)
This is something that can be coordinated by Brent, and please, someone tell me if its a stupid idea. Since buying my kit, I've thought about things I could do to help people out with their windshields, without charging them. I've thought about maybe once or twice a year, going to a few retirement apartments, and repairing the Seniors windshields for free. Or, going to a childrens hospital, and repairing the windshields of the parents of sick kids, or the doctors and nurses at the childrens hospital's. I know for sure that we could get press coverage here (ex-wife was a news anchor), and thankfully she doesnt work there anymore, but I have many friends still there (how the heck did I get off on the ex-wife subject?) Other business's could join in also, like repairing dents, or headlight restoration, etc... Newsies love that kind of stuff and your business would get great coverage and referrals (at least I think so). I know this wont be like saving babies in Africa, or feeding the hungry in peru, but I'll bet the parents who have children in the hospital dont have enough money to have their windshield repaired if it needs it. A banner could be made advertising which weekend we would be there, and also have everyone's compay on the banner also. you can bet that banner will be on the news. we could pick a day, then call a few other windshield repair people in your area, and other services like I state above. Notify the press of when it is. Arrive in your nicest little repair clothes with the name of your company on your shirt and the back, start doing repairs, and then we all meet back here at 9:00 p.m., or whatever, and lets chat about what happened that day. Not that it would matter, but I'm sure there are some tax write off's there somewhere. Sorry to put this off on you Brent, but you would be perfect for the task. that is, if its not a stupid idea.

Brent and everyone, I think we should bring the Windshield Repair Industry "kicking and screaming" into this century!!! May sound like a soap box, but dang, Im excited about this stuff. Everyone email your friends that are members of this forum, and get them back in. Tell people who arent members to "jump on in, the water's fine"! Tell them "Stan the Man"
"Pay the Rent Brent", "Peg Leg Don", "SCREAMING Screenman" "Ace in the Deck Sneck" "Pretty Boy Pitt" "Give it a Whirl Blind Squirrel" "Coitster the Sportster" and "Crazy DaveC" will be payin' em a visit if they dont get back in and start typin'. Peg Leg Don will give you guys a serious "wedgie" if you dont get your backside back involved on this site. Tell em they got till noon, or the aforementioned posse will be paying them a visit!!!! (Brent, I'll think of another name for you. It's all I could come up with this late). And I read somewhere about meeting in vegas and having some competition. Thats a great idea. Its a great reason for all of us to get together and have some fun, and get to know each other better. I've never been to Las Vegas, so I'm ready to go! Hope its not too late, and if it is, I'll go next year. And claim the whole thing on your taxes. Our politicians dont have a problem using our money, or money from lobbyist's, so if ya cant beat em, join em!! And no, I wont go to the bunny ranch!

Holy Crap! You are filled with more P & Vinegar than a rookie straight out of the academy. I AM JUST KIDDING!
That is some very good thinking. You can definitely count me in on this. This may work....imagine a few guys from each state were able to throw something like this together. Not only would the NEWS love it....we would feel like a Million Dollars for doing something great.

I really think that is a really good idea.In the fall there are alwas a school holding a raffle you could donate your services and let them sale raffle tickets for it. Or maybe (since I am a Disabled Verteran) go to the local vfw and do some for them. There is just so much that you could do with this idea and money couldn't buy the advertising that you would get.

Whichever organization we decide to donate to, I'm sure we could get a windshield replacement business to donate their time and a few windshields for those who have long, long, long cracks. By the way, at the competition in Las Vegas, I think one of the events should be to repair a long crack that runs from one side of the windshield to the other. Now I would be impressed with that, and I would always bow in your presence. And "Sir" should be at the beginning of your name, like "Sir Screenman", or "Sir Peg Leg" or "Sir Pitt", "Sir Guelster". I think doing repairs for Veterans would be a great idea. AND, since Brent is going to coordinate all this, of course Delata Kits will be donating all of the resin we use for this event!!!!

I would rather do a crack from top to bottom.

Do one of each. Vert, amd Horiz.
I will sneak in my own resin in a delta bottle.
Oh there I go again, stiring up the pot one more time.

Diagonaly as well, joking aside whichever resin you use I personlay think a vertical crack be it from top or bottom is easier than a horizontal one. The reason being that you have not got the weight of the part of the screen above the horizontal crack trying to shut it and this is where crack spreaders work best, I must add I do not have any and have not had any for over 10 years. Also capillery action is a great help in doing quality long crack repairs. Would that really be resin in a Delta bottle or would it be Gin or Vodka just to help the stage fright. I know I would need some.
