disassembly question

Post by StellarChip »

Is it possible to disassemble the springloaded delta injector?? I dont see any obvious ways to take this sucker apart but i do notice that the plunger end is larger than the plunger rod that connects to the knob at the top so i suspect that the plunger end is screwed on to the plunger rod. I havent attempted it because I don't want to damage the unit and void any warranty but I cant imagine its rocket science. Anyone tips?

Any disassembly of the Delta Kits spring loaded injector will void the warranty. The tip is not screwed on, so trying to unscrew it will end up damaging the injector.

Rocket science? No, but assembly and disassembly is not something that most people will be able to do successfully. It requires precision tools and skills that I don't wish to be shared as that would just end up in a lot of voided warranties and unhappy customers.

Delta Kits offers a lifetime warranty against factory defects, so if you have a problem with your injector it is best to return it to us for repair or replacement. In this case I know you have already spoken with one or more Delta Kits reps, but I thought it best to answer your question just in case anyone else was curious.

With very few exceptions, the only problem we ever have with the I-100 has to do with resin getting up inside the plunger. If this happens and the plunger is not properly cleaned the resin will partially cure and gum up the works. If the plunger is left out in the sun for extended periods of time the resin can cure, causing the injector spring to lock up solid.

Delta Kits can sometimes get a gummy or locked plunger working properly again, but in our experience attempts by technicians to fix the problem generally results in a part that cannot be repaired, so we always recommend that you return a malfunctioning injector to us even if you know the problem was a result of improper use and/or cleaning.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you follow the directions for proper use and cleaning, which includes not turning the injector upside down, not leaving it out in the sun, storing the plunger in the pressure (down) position, and always cleaning it by thoroughly rinsing the parts in a jar of denatured alcohol immediately after each repair, you should never have a problem with the I-100.

In addition to our lifetime warranty, Delta Kits also offers a rapid replacement service that reduces or eliminates down time. There is a small charge for this service, but most customers appreciate the fact that they don't lose any work, especially when the problem is a result of improper use or cleaning. EZK-3 injector users also have the opportunity to use the rapid replacement service, or can return the injector for warranty repair or replacement.
