Been out of the business since 2005

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting back into the business sometime in the near future. I got out of it due to a partnership going bad and spent 100% of my time in real estate. Have things changed much since then? Are the profit margins still similar? I am in a big city so I know there is a lot of potential business, also a lot of competition. thanks
