I just came across this article today in the news and thought everyone might want to add their 2 cents. It seems that when you get a chip you should go to the auto parts store and buy a $10 windshield repair kit. You use it to seal the chip and it will last 1 month, enough time to save up the $50 a repair tech will charge to permanently repair it. That's a really bad idea. The "temporary" fix will probably make it difficult if not impossible to do a professional repair. An improperly repaired rock chip may not hold even a month.

This sucks. That says it all eh?

I won't touch a job most of the time if a DIYer tried it first. Some of the worst damage I have seen to a car has been done by its owner who was trying to save afew dollars.
