Re: do resins have a shelf life
It depends on the resin manufacturer. We put a 2-year shelf life on Delta Kits resins packaged in 15ml bottles, but we also offer a money-back guarantee if you are ever not 100% satisfied, so if even if your resin is 5 years old and you think there is a problem with it, we will replace it for you. However, I always recommend that resin be replaced if not used within 2 years just to be absolutely sure you are getting maximum performance.
Generally speaking, if your resin is still clear, is its original viscosity, and has not been contaminated, it will still work fine, but if you are not 100% sure I would not take any chances.

If my resin has been sitting around for a while is it a good idea to shake the bottle before use? Does the resin seperate into layers? Or is it a bad idea much like the pit resin?

Re: do resins have a shelf life
Different resin manufacturers will give different advice for this, but we don't recommend shaking up Delta Kits resins as you could get temporary air bubbles in the resin. They go away quickly, but our windshield repair resins will not separate so there is no reason to shake them up. The one exception is with our colored resins. The color will separate (slightly) over a period of time, so before pouring from a liter into a smaller bottle shaking is recommended. In 15ml bottles you will probably never notice the separation, but shaking once in the morning is not a bad idea. Just be sure to let the resin sit for a few minutes so the air in the resin will rise to the top.
