Hello all,
Thanks to our wonderful economy, I have to do th re-invent myself game once again. I have been self employed for 16 yrs and have the business experience to follow thru with this. I have considered WSR in the past and now after much reading up and finding this forum, I feel comfortable with investing in myself and the business. With almost 30 yrs in glass, this is something I can certainly do, but not without good equipment, training and support. As a side note I've done about twenty WS repairs in the past...way past...80's.
After looking into most all of the systems, I have made my decision to use Delta, although I have not purchased yet.
All that said, I need to put this in action fast. The bills keep-a-coming.
I am in San diego now and drivng this week back to So. Fl
I would like to get Delta certified. Is there a way to get certified without going to Oregon?
And help! I need training. Between here and Florida maybe?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, and thank you all in advance.

Excellent choice to go with DK and very good to get a decent training. I just looked up the info at their website, but to no avail >no dates or venues are published, I would give DK a call for more specific info. You come from the plate glass business, in Stuart FL. Have you ever considered to do scratch removal? Talk to Dave at IPSGLASS, should be easy for you since the business is also located in Stuart >2822 SE Monroe Street. Excellent product (the original stuff), perfect training and support.
Re: Another Newbie with questions
Thanks for the heads up with scratch removal. I've done quite a bit of this over the years and most systems are messy, leave distortion and is labor intensive. I see there are new systems that don't distort, but are very expensive. There is however, a huge market for this service. I don't know what the investment with IPSGlass would be, but it's certainly worth a look. I really want to provide multiple services and scratch removal was at the top of my list. The equipment cost will have to be generated by WSR though.
Thanks again
Thanks again

Welcome to the windshield repair forum. SAFEWINDOW. We just completed training classes in Florida and Texas in January and February, and have no other training classes planned outside of Eugene in the near future. It is getting so expensive to ship all of the training materials that we either have to cut back on the number of "on the road" training classes we offer each year, or up the price so we can at least break even. The other option would be to require a purchase like most of our competitors do, but that doesn't make much sense when we offer a money back guarantee.
We don't have anyone in Florida that is authorized to do training for us, however SGT has is a very good technician and has done some training for us. He is in PA so still a long way from home for you, but sometimes the flights are more convenient, so it might be worth contacting him if that is of interest. Delta Kits is nearing completion of our new on-site training facility here in Eugene, so we will soon be offering training classes on a bi-weekly basis. I know it is expensive and difficult to make time to fly to Eugene, but I think if you do purchase a Delta Kits windshield repair system you will find the training to be worthwhile. I hope to see you soon!

Thanks Brent.
As I had posted, I'm driving this week from San Diego to Florida. If there is anyone else you could recommend that would be along the way (I-10 or near), that would be a bonus. Some good hands on training with Delta products is what I need now. Certification may have to wait a bit. Of course I would be willing to pay for someones time and materials.

Re: Another Newbie with questions
I started wsr in Dec and was unable to attend formal training at that time. I located a wrtech a couple hours away.
...I gave him a call and went down and worked with him for a day(that was after i did practice on friends cars etc)
I have no problem with bulls, stars and have made some cracks look great..I have completed about 80 repairs so far
for pay and I am and my customers have been happy.Really not difficult for basic repairs. I did buy Delta and they have been
extremely helpful.Read and research this forum and you may be surprised how easy it is to do great repairs with the
Delta Kit.....Good Luck
