T4K and SuperGlassDave. I deleted a thread with posts from the two of you because it mentioned a product that is not to be discussed on this board. There was once a lot of discussion about this product here on the windshield repair forum. Some good things were said and some bad. I was asked to remove the negative and leave the positive, but explained that it was an all or nothing kind of thing. Given those choices I was asked to remove everything and not allow the product to be discussed here any more. Since then I have been asked by a company representative to allow discussions to continue, but again, it doesn't work that way. I will not allow this forum to be used to advertise products.
I'm sorry about that guys. I have plenty to say about the testing we have done on the product as well, but this is not the place for that discussion, at least by name.
Dave, like you I find that many resin manufacturers do not send out MSDS with orders, and do not follow shipping regulations. It's very frustrating as you and I know how expensive it is to do things the right way. I have to send people to school to have them trained for ever changing HAZMAT and IATA regulations. This training is required by law, but a lot of fly by night companies still don't do it their customers are unfortunately none the wiser. There are so many exaggerated and outright false claims being made these days that it has become very much a buyer beware industry. Safety is always the highest priority at Delta Kits, and I know it is also at Super Glass.
As for the regular light cure resin, it does cure without UV light, but that is not a good thing in my opinion as you have to be very careful that it does not cure prematurely. You can't even use a mirror behind it for fear that the reflection of light will cure it before you are ready. Also, it is not a new technology. Any resin manufacturer can make it, but there are too many inherent problems to make it effective for windshield repair. That said, there are some who do like it, and that is fine as this is still America and personal preference is alive and well. My problem is that the index of refraction is quite low compared to the high end UV resins used for windshield repair, and the bonding strength is lacking. It flows like water which is what people like, but with all the other issues it is just not a product we feel comfortable selling.
My advice to windshield repair technicians is to know as much as possible about the product you are using. Having MSDS sheets on file is not only the safe thing to do, it is the law. Knowing the specifications of the product you are using and how that may affect your repairs long term is just good business sense.
Again, I'm sorry I had to delete the topic, but I have no way to edit topic titles.
Thanks for your understanding.

No problem Brent. Thanks for the info about the product. I'll keep company names out from now on.
