shiney area in repaired crack!
shiney area in repaired crack!
I've been practicing on my own trucks and a used windshield and on a couple repairs I've done I've noticed a little area in the cracks that were black! but while in the process of the repair I can see the resign filling the crack and pushing the air out! but after the repair is done I can see a shiney area from certain angles that seems to run the same direction as the crack! I've been taking my time following all the steps but for some reason on a couple repairs there is this shiney area that is making me nuts!! I know there is resign in there because i can see it fill. Please advise.
Re: shiney area in repaired crack!
Dean,
You will always see the "scar" from the crack when you look at it from different angles, however, you should not see black areas. Also, make sure you don't go into a vacuum cycle when you are working on long cracks. Doing so will pull air through the surface of the glass along the crack and it can become trapped in the break.

Like Jonathan said, it's the scar you are seeing. It's like if you accidently cut your arm and the Doctor stitched it up, even though it has heald, you're still going to see the "scar".
