Questions about a werid break

Post by Dent-tastic »

Had a strange comb break today, the impact point was less than 1/8 inch in size nothing looked werid about it. During the repair i noticed about 50(yes 50) 1/4in. small cracks running from the impact point. the bullseye part filled in nicely and all of the longer legs of the star took resin. After sliding the bridge over to inspect the repair looked normal so i preceded to apply pit filler and cure. After leveling and polishing the repair, it looked 98% from the outside but from the inside i could still see a little 1/4 in. snowflake apperance of cracks at the impact point. I figured it just due to the amount of cracks leading from the impact point and the light reflaction off them. This first one ive seen like this was there anything else i could have done or is this kinda average for a serve impact point?

Less pressured when sealing the injector can help, a bit longer on the filling side, but all in all not all repairs will come out a 100% cosmetic improvement. Sounds to me like you did a good strutual repair which is what we aim for. Combinations like you describe rarely do not show some sparkle from the crushed glass left in the centre.
