So the winner is! I would say carry both. They both have their advantages in certain situations and it's nice to have options. I have always been partial to the bubble dome for numerous reasons:
1. It's easier to work under than the U.V. shield
2. I like to aim my hair dryer up into it on colder days to circulate warm air around the repair area.
3. It can keep the repair area dry in the rain.
4. Apparently from todays observations it helps retain heat which is great on chilly days.
5. Draws attention to you and gets people asking what you are doing.
What I like about the U.V. shield
1. Nice and portable-can be rolled up and put in tool box
2. Keeps the repair area cooler. Better for hot days helps get the windshield temp down.( I am assuming probably because it is tinted, the bubble dome is not)
I was shocked at the 17 degree difference. The truck was parked square to the sun and the glass outside the shields was the same temp. Interesting observations I thought I would share. By the way, the these are shields that Delta Kits sells....results may vary with a different brands.
