As you know, State farm quit paying for windshield repairs in Washington State a couple years ago. So I have been collecting cash or check from customers who have State Farm.
A recent customer of mine needed his rock chip repaired and he advised me that he had State Farm. So I told him I would have to collect cash or check and explained that State Farm was no longer paying for rock chip repairs in Washing State. He told me he was going to take it up with his insurnace company and call me back. I'm not sure if he called his agent or if he called the claims number, but the next day I got a call from State Farm, they confrenced me in with my customer on the phone. State Farm asked if I would accept $50.00 for the repair, of course I said yes, and they gave me the dispatch number to do the job.
I got off the phone and said to myself... "Hugh... that's weird".
I scheduled the repair for that afternoon and submitted my invoice online with ACT. I got a confirmation email that they will pay me $50.00 dollars for the repair I did.
So i'm not really sure if they overlooked the fact that me and my customer are in Washington State, or if they made an exception to pay for the repair to keep their customer happy. Or is it that State Farm might be warming up to the idea of paying for repairs again?
Weird Hugh?
