I live in a state (Oklahoma) that does not require vehicle inspections in order to register your vehicle. I am wondering if this will have a negative impact on selling windshield repair. It seems to me that knowing you will not have to replace a cracked windshield may cause many to be more passive about getting that chip repaired. Any thoughts or input from those who live in states with similar standards?
Thanks,
Jason

No required inspections in Oregon and no problem selling repairs.

No inspections in Indiana and I haven't had trouble selling wsr, I would like to get more sales but I haven't devoted 100% of my efforts in achieving new sales. I am still part time with my own wsr business but I work full time for a replacement company and I do all of their repairs (billed thru me) and my own repairs on their time, so I haven't really "tried" to expand my sales...that will be changing tho as I really dislike the replacement industry and plan on shifting to full time with my business.

Jason, I have often thought the same thing. I see so many windshields with chips and or already cracked out. If there was a state inspect I believe more people would realize, I have to fix it or I will have to replace it. Thus I have trouble getting people to repair their windshield. It,s like they will think about it and then you dont see them again. I really need some better skills at selling I guess. I do fair but their is so much more out there and I need it.

You shouldnt have trouble getting people to repair in sales there are Salespeople and Order Takers you need to decide which you are and if The Salesperson is your choice buys some books or tapes and learn to sell. I Close at least 50% Of the folks I find with a chip its really pretty easy after you learn. ( People who you find have a chip and you get access to them with a moment to talk to them) Be friendly personable and show a professional attitude and appearence
Good Luck

Do not forget to ask for the job, I best get that fixed for you NOW! not just tell them about your trade and let them walk away. Most of my customers feel like I have done them a favour by repairing their damage even though they have paid me for the privilege.
Great saying somebody put up years ago, never sell a repair to a stranger make them a friend first. It only takes a couple of minutes chatting to find some perceived common ground then you are on a nicer platform to tell the customer/friend that you can help them out by repairing the damage straight away, it is always harder to say no to a friend than a stranger.
Most of the guys in this industry not getting enough business is because they are not going out asking for it. Set a goal, just a low number say 5 repair per day and do not go home until you have done those 5.
Keep at it and the best of luck.
