Hi All,
I was just wondering if commercial fleet accounts generally pay for their windshield repairs out of pocket, or do their insurance companies cover the claims just like a private party??? This information will make a huge difference in the sales approach I take with the fleet managers.
Thanks

I do not know of a fleet customer in the UK who has glass cover, I feel it would be the same over there.

Fleet accounts generally pay for repairs out of pocket because thats the way they have always done it. I started asking if they have insurance on their vehicles and always got a no. This sounded a little wierd,so I ask again, the answer is "well of course we have insurance but we have a big deductible". some insurance waives even big deductibles, so find out if their company waives the deductible they have. Some companys still don't want the insurance claims even though their agent tells them it won't affect their rates. I currently have 2 truck fleets and 2 school bus fleets that I bill to their insurance company. I will take insurance pay over fleet pay anyday.

I will say this if you find a fleet that is not self insured and their insurance company waives their deductible you have possibly hit a GOLD mine!I have one that has Owners insurance and they pay 60 bucks a pop.Ofcourse this one out of many that i have that I get the big dollars but unfortantly they only have 50 buses.

Re: Fleet Account Insurance Claims
I had a fleet account that would put in the claims to their insurance company which waived the deductible, but after maybe 5-6 repairs the owner received a letter from the ins. co. stating that because he had so many glass claims the deductible would no longer be waived. The fleet company began paying cash!
