Calling all UNCERTIFIED REPAIR ONLY TECHS
Calling all UNCERTIFIED REPAIR ONLY TECHS
Since that other thread clearly specified CERTIFIED techs only, I want to hear from the uncertified techs and their opinions of the NWRA and the issues that have been brought up.
AND without any bashing.
I have many times posted my complaints that, essentially, the NWRA does nothing to represent the business interests of "repair only" business'. Specifically on the issues of getting the networks to allow trip charges and co-pays. This is the reason I allowed my membership to lapse and choose not to waste my money on these meaningless certifications.
I firmly believe it has no discernable effect on a repair only business' ability to build a profitable and prosperous business if they do so with honestly and integrity.

-Continued-
After contemplating the previous post, it occurred to me that what may be the real difference here is in the type of marketing that's used by different repair techs. I know there are a few here that understand the value of going out and finding the chips to repair while the majority seem to rely on whatever advertising they use to get the customer to call them and request service.
In that case, you would want whatever credibility might help you stand out from the crowd, in hopes the customers going through the phone book will choose your shop over another. Alas, my experience with that is that almost all the calls are either from price shoppers or people that didn't read the ad completely and need a replacement instead of repair.
I'm blessed with having built a customer base of satisfied customers that appreciate the quality of my service. This takes time, of course, but I'll end by saying that the only essential thing you need to build a successful business is a passion for top notch customer service. For me, I truly love the process and the knowing that I'm capable of providing that.

I don't have all the certificates either D2D and I am doing fine. I have never been asked if I was accredited by any organization or regulatory body prior to working on a windshield. If people need the accreditations to help them in their business, then that is fine too.
My customers know the quality of my work and they call me, I don't call them.

No problem. You stayed off my thread by your own doing. If you can speak factually to the thread topic, please enlighten us as you often provide interesting opinions. I think one of the the big differences is that a certified technician can comment on both threads. Someone who is not certified really cant with any credibility.D2D wrote:I stayed off your thread, you stay off mine

I see benefits in being certified, on the other hand: I hate regulations and (governmental) obstacles.

So, Mr Fenner shows his true colors. I refuse to continue to contribute to any forum that will tolerate this level of arrogance and condescension.

Re: Calling all UNCERTIFIED REPAIR ONLY TECHS
Please add this to the above post (diner was served....)
Most guys are not certified at all. It is even worse......many (and probably even most) were never trained. That to me would be so much more of an urgent need. Also: I know many certified guys (in all trades), many of them are doing not well or have failed.
On the other hand: I know a lot of not certified guys who do real good and make proper money.
Where do you want to be?

Frank,
You are right sir. I did not draw first blood. D2D is usually on the controversial edge with topics not me which sets the thread tone. This thread title was a direct shot at me from a precious thread I started with good intentions and he turned sour right out of the gate. Even in forum banter I always try to keep it professional and positive.
