I've been a lurker for the last 2 days and have read around 80% of the entire forum, (archives included). I'm currently in the Air Force and can retire in 20 months (applause). I've been looking for over a decade for the perfect home based business. By jove, I think this is it. I'm overly impressed with the integrity, honesty and funloving characters on this forum. I'm excited to purchase my Delta kit, and just get started. That way when I retire and go full time, I'll have all the kinks out and be super confident.
I'm near Colorado Springs, CO is there anyone in the group near here, That once I get my kit can offer advice and or show me the ropes.

Sounds like a good plan. A year and a half to build up experience and a client base without having to worry about the pressures of full-time self-employment!
I bet you'll be getting lots of practice fixing buddies' vehicles. I just wonder, have you checked into the possibility of becoming an AAFES authorized vendor?
You must be part of the Peterson Complex if you aren't attached to the Academy. (Peterson, Schriever or Cheyanne Mountain).
I was stationed at Warren AFB for a short time before rotating overseas for three years.
With 20 months to go, you're not yet a short-timer but plenty of time to do some groundwork. A suggestion or two re the w/s business.
Most bases or posts have insurance offices nearby and off-base. Look for the USAA offices. They specialize in military clients. I paid for part of a mailing with one office outside Luke AFB and included a blurb within his other agent material.
Worked out quite well.
Make friends with your motor- pool guy if you haven't already. Could be plenty of lead-generation potential there also.
Post an ad (if allowed) or article in the base newspaper. They're always looking for fill.
Thanks for the tips/advice and overall "welcome onboard". I guess just about everything I need to know to really get started is on this forum. So, I'll just keep lurking, hiding behind my monitor and listening to all you guys passing out advice and tips like candy. Trust me, I'll eat it all up, digest it and come off the starting block with my head on straight. Well Ok, Honestly I'm sure I'll make some mistakes, so I'm hanging tight right now. Listening and learning till I get my kit.
We just moved to CO and bought a house, holiday debt is upon us, but rest assured, 2-4 months max, I'll have that kit soon.

I don't know AAFES is pretty much like the mob. They want their cut at least 7%. They watch the number of clients you have per month, and if their not happy with the numbers they move you! You may have luck with the auto section maybe, but like I said AAFES can be a blessing or you worst nightmare. And ALL retail real estate on military installations is owned by AAFES, so if you do decide to go on base you will have to deal with them no matter what.
I just wanted to let you know. I dealt with them for five years. They can be profitable sometimes...
