I searched with what I thought were relevant terms but was unable to locate anything. I guess it would qualify as a sort of mixed marketing strategy... Here is what I've done:
Using one of these online print shops I designed and ordered 1000 4X6 postcards. (I've attached the front and back files to this post so hopefully it works). My thoughts are that I distribute these among businesses such as repair shops and the local quick lube guy, coffee kiosks, RV parks with gift shops, local charities etc. and see how it goes. I was hoping that some of you have tried something similar and if so, I would like to hear if you have had success with it or not. My biggest concern is the logistical considerations...Do I pre-buy the $5 coupons and make it easier for the other business but also possibly remove any incentive for them to drum business up? Or do I just leave them the cards and count on them trusting me enough to bill me for any coupons used? That might seem like too much work for already busy people for a mere $5.

The card looks good. How expensive are they to make at 1000 cards? Is it a thick card or paper type? Are the cards to remain at the business and the business gives them your $5 coupon? I print up a half sheet size flyer with information on WSR & HLR. The business hands them out to the customers that need one of those services. Each business has its on colored flyer with a code that identifies the business that passed it out. Then I send that business $5 for each referral that purchases my service. I print the flyer off with my copier at home. 200 flyers cost me about $4 plus ink. I like the fact that you show the different typest of breaks. The less paper the business has to deal with the better they like it.
Thanks for the feedback. Candyman, the cards are made of cardstock, have a nice glossy finish, and cost me just over 40 bucks including shipping to make 1000. The logistics of it for one business are simple, he's a quicklube/carwash. I pre-purchase 12 washes and he prints out 12 codes to punch into his auto wash. For each card that comes back to me, I just write the car wash code on the back and they can redeem it that way. I dropped a stack off at a local RV campground with an eatery... They are going to give them to each customer that checks into the park and each one I get back will be good for a cheeseburger. The manager and I just need to figure out how we are going to account these things. Like if I'm going to pre-purchase the food items or what. I have no idea. On one hand, I would like for the referring business to have incentive to encourage their customers to give me business, but on the other I don't want to inconvenience them with keeping track of this stuff. So that's something I gotta figure out. Anyhow, I would still appreciate any other feedback others have. I was kind of hoping this would elicit more response than it has gotten. Thanks again!!
Thanks for the information: I like the car wash idea. Iam always looking for something new or different to try to generate leads. I will put some thought to the burger deal. Have a good day.
