Windshield Evaporator Question

Hi, just recieved my kit and training Video. I do have a question on the moisture evaporator. In the training video I couldnt
tell if the Mosture evaporator actually touches the glass? Does it or do you just keep it above the chip for 15 -20(sec).
And I can immedaitely use the heat excahnger to cool correct? Ive been reading ......
