I thought AAA was a supporter of windshied repair...
Hey Everyone,
Did an insurance job today for a lady who had AAA...turns out they wouldn't waive her deductable and pay for the work....I had already promised her a repair at "no cost" to her so I did the job for free. One good thing from the job is that the customer was very happy and said she would definitely refer me to her friends because the repair turned out so nicely...Hopefully karma is real.
Just wondering which insurance companies out there are not supporters (or in other words won't waive the deductable)...I ran into the same problem with State Farm...Please let me know if you guys know of any other insurance co's that wont waive deductables for glass chip repair...I really dislike working for free. lol....

Re: I thought AAA was a supporter of windshied repair...
Sometimes it depends on the specific policy options the person has. Not every company waives deduct for every insured... even if they have comp coverage. Makes sense and I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. If you have a 500 or 1000 deduct, it makes no sense for them to foot the bill for a repair. The insured is going to eat the cost of replacement, not the ins.co.
I'm not up to speed on what companies do though... I rarely bill through ins... maybe once a year. And I may not ever do another one. What I tell customers is that they are welcome to turn in the bill to their ins for reimbursement if they choose, and that their ins will do that if their policy pays for w/s repair. As far as I know, it's always worked out... I've never had anyone call me back saying their ins wouldn't do it.

I like your approach GlassDoctor....I'm just not sure people will be as apt or willing to go through with the repair knowing they have some footwork to do. I will give your approach a try one of these days and see how it works for me. Instant pay is pretty attractive vs. waiting for my insurance checks...Thanks for your input!

Aside from the policy being setup to include glass coverage which most comprehensive policy's include it. It also differs by state as well.
State Farm does not waive deductibles on repair anymore outside the state of Texas as of about 3 or 4 yrs. ago. AAA does waive it in some states but I don't think it's many & Texas is not one of them.

In SoCal, AAA, State Farm, and Mercury do not pay for rock chip repairs. (I've heard that AAA in NoCal does pay, but I don't know that as a fact.) All others do pay that I know of. The exception can be if the customer pays extra for glass coverage (as my girlfriend does with State Farm).

I contacted AAA in north carolin and never got a call back from the service dept anager. They have their own repair people that they train. They has no service in my area and I wanted to see if they would allow me to be the affiliate here. Customer service talked to me several times, only to tell me the service dept handled WSR. They claim in the ad to be top trained and set the standard for WSR. That may be why your client was turned down.
