Alittle Business Help Please
Mobile Tech & Trim Expo 2003
Hi There, Thought I would throw it out there. New to the business, Would like to know what windshield repair kit would be the best starter kit for quality work, and for the money. I`m in the car business already so, I feel it gives me alittle jump start on building a small customer base to start a small business part time while keeping my job at the dealership. I live in Northern California, and would also like to ask if their is a place to go up here to get some training. I`m close to the state capital Sacramento. Any help guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..........

Welcome to the forums MC!
Even though I want to tell you what I think you should get, people would probably say that I was biased, so i'll leave that to other people!
What I will say though, is that a windshield repair business is an excellent choice to start part time, and work in to a full time gig. No matter who you go with for a supplier, the start up costs are very low compared to other business ideas.
Also, we're in Eugene OR, which is probably 400 miles or so from you...Is that close?

Re: Alittle Business Help Please
Hello MC,
First I would like say I own a Delta Kit. I will explain why.
1. I contacted different suppliers and tested their customer service skills/character. I got met with varying responses but what impressed me the most was that Delta Kits never compromised their integrity by slamming their competitors and supplied me with unbiased factual information to make an educated decision.
2.Delta Kits said see for yourself and invited me to a mobile trim expo in Orlando Florida. Just like the recent post for the 2003 Expo. Not knowing that by trade I work for a us major airline, I took them up on their offer and showed up. It gave me a chance to see all the big boys in the biz under one roof. It also allowed me to wittiness first hand their customer service capabilities/character along with the technical capabilities of the tooling. What I witnessed was a common denominator, as I spent time at the delta kits booth..numerous experienced WSR Technicians wishing that that had gone with a Delta Kit verses there existing kit from varying manufacturers and why. Never once did I hear a negative comment towards their competitors in anyway. Never once did delta kits try to hard sell me. Their product confidence allows it to speak for itself. So MC, I ask you, have you had a vacation this year? Its a nice getaway and you should be able to satisfy all your questions there. Physically see the tooling and do the face to face thing. Maybe you can aquire your training there in one shot. It seems like you alreay have a technical background. I am extremely pleased with my DELTA KIT.
The above is just my personal experience/opinion. Take it for what its worth.
As for training in your specific area, sorry dont know of any.
Remember: whatever tooling you go with... THE TOOLING IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE TECHNICIAN USING IT.
I hope this helps.
Pay it foward,
Brian

Re: Alittle Business Help Please
MC,
Esprit is in San Carlos, CA, just a couple hundred miles from you. They offer free training with their systems. I have been using their system for years and really like the simplicity, but most of all the quality of the resin. At first I was concerned about the price, but soon that was not an issue compared with the quality. Their web site is http://www.esprit-usa.com.
