Wine cork with pit polish??

I can't remember if I saw this online or read about it, but has anyone ever used a cork in place of a lint free cloth when polishing the pit? If so, how does it work? Thoughts/comments?

Doesnt matter cork/cloth/finger or rubber eraser whatever works form you.

I am with Glass I use whatever even though I carry a cork!

I carry the cork as a back-up. But use a blue paper towel as I found it to be more effective.

Thank fellas! So would it be safe to say the end result will be the same if either a cloth or cork is used? If it doesn't matter, why carry a cork and cloth?

We just started carrying corks because more and more technicians are requesting them. Personally I can't tell the difference but we used cork belts in our glass shop as part of the glass edge polishing process so I can't argue with cork being good for polishing. It could also be argued that a sliver of glass could go through a paper towel and cause an injury although if completed correctly there should be no sharp edges or slivers of glass at the impact point by the time you reach the polishing step and I can't say I've ever heard of anyone getting injured while polishing a pit. I think it's just personal preference.

28 bottles of wine we have had to go through here this week and still none of them have a cork stopper, do you think we should change the brand?

May I recommend a Chateuneuf-du-Pape. It has a beautiful cork and the wine is not bad either.
