What is happening when it looks like a flower in the glass

Post by jgm0348 »

So I am doing the friends and family work for free and practice and when I did my mother-in-laws after I was finished it looks like there is a flower around the bulls eye. It looks like the magnibond escaped the bullseye and went outside the edges. Is that a result of too much thumb pressure?

Very likely, although excessive heat and an old damage along with moisture can help towards it. If you had been paying closer attention and viewing from the correct angle you would have seen it happen, this would have allowed you to back off quickly.

I train the guys over here to view from every angle possible, perpendicular is seldom the best way.

So all you need is the minimum pressure to fill and no more, old damage or hot take it easy, very easy and until you are very confident do not take your eye off it whilst under pressure.

Back to the practise glass for another 50 repairs is a good idea to get your confidence back up there.

Screenmann thanks for your reply. It actually was a old break but it did look dry and here in deep south Texas it is still in the high 70's. Where can I get practice glass besides getting a windshield from a junk yard?

Try somebody that fits windshields, they have to pay to have them taken away, tell them you want it to cover your roses.
