Cleaning your injectors????????????

Just curious what everyone out there is using? I am wondering if there is a prefered method.

I use a Delta Kits injector and clean it by first dipping it in the plastic cleaning jar , (supplied in my new kit ) which contains alcohal. After I swirl it around a couple of times -I blow it off with a can of compressed air available at any office supply or walmart. The compressed air is moisture free and also looks cool as it adds to your arsenal of tools and supplies while the customer watches. 8) 8) I used to blow it out through my mouth but discovered that I hate the taste of resin :-& :-& Bob

I use Isopryl Alcohol. I just give injectors and the seals a quick swish. Then rinse them in distilled water and dry them. occasionally, some resin will accumulate on the inside threads of the VP-5000 injector. When this happens, I let them stand in the alcohol for a time, then run a dental pick around the threads. That's it for me.

I mainly wanted to know if I was on track with the isopropyl or not. It appears I am! I actually am not as dumb as I look! Who new ?
I got a fill it yourself aerosol can from Northern Supply and fill it halfway with alchohol and put at 100psi into it. Sprays great and I dont have to buy 6 dollar cans of air every 3 days. I always had a problem with having to pay for air at a gas station and I had the same problem with the canned air stuff.

I clean my injectors about once every two weeks or so sometimes longer #-o when I do this I soak them in a pint jar of denatured alcohol usually overnight sometimes longer after they have soaked I blow them out with compressed air. I run the threads on the wire wheel this will keep them spotless. I always wipe my injectors clean after every repair, never store the injector pieces together if you do that call and plead insanity. [-o<

Dis-assemble and swirl the parts in a 50/50 alcohol mix after every use but remove the tip and dry or the tip will harden.

Doesn't matter how long you leave the ss injector and stem in the solution.

If the cylinder and stem become clogged for some reason, either ream out the cylinder or more easily, soak it and the stem in a lacquer cleaner overnight.

That's what I do.

Denatured alcohol here. And even when I leave them in the solution for longar than intended (like when I forget;), I haven't noticed the seals hardening.

For Delta Kits equipment, we recommend using denatured alcohol. You can find it at most hardware stores near the paint thinner. It has less water content than isopropyl alcohol, which is better.

Also, if using our equipment, you need not remove (or worry) about the end seals. They are not rubber, and will not be adversely affected by soaking in denatured alcohol.

Every so often I run a Qtip through mine take out the tip thats the extent of my cleaning,couple times ive had some cured resin in the injector again the Qtip and once the tip of the awl. I usually store the injector wrapped in a towel in the tool box have never used alcohol or any other chemical for that matter.


I did grow up in the SF Bay area in the 60,s &70,s so I may have used some non cleaning chemicals but dont remember 8)
