No more sgn call
Scratch removal
I do not understand we never get anymore sgn calls. We called in one on saturday and now they said they could not find our shop. they looked by name and location and phone and fax number. This has been the third time this has happend in three years. After we call then they will thow the dog a bone every now and then just so we keep our mouth shut. Any body else having this problem? Also do you need to sign up to every insurance company sgn handles or do they sign up to them for you? Please help me thanks.
No more sgn call
If you got even one sgn call, that is one more than I have received in the past two years. But, from all that I have heard about sgn, I didn't expect any calls, so I'm not dissappointed.
When you sign up with sgn, they put you on the list for all of the insurance companies that they serve.
I had a similar experience with not being able to find my shop. I called in a USAA claim one morning with no problem. I called in another USAA claim in the afternoon, and they couldn't find my shop. I think it may have something to do with the skill of the dispatcher that you contact when you call.

Re: No more sgn call
Safelite dispatchers not skilled? Are you kiddin me. I believe they know what to do but I think they're trained to give small glass shops and repair shops as much grief as humanly possible.
Just my opinion. We do lots of work through the sgn. No they never send us any we go out and get it.
They will try and steer your customer. So make sure you do the work before calling in to get a referral number.

glass network
I have heard of a few people doing this and was just wondering:
Does anyone know how to get set up with the networks without accepting their pricing?
Do you just have to call and ask for that or si there a trick?
Phone numbers, would be greatly appreciated.

Re: glass network
OGR,
I do not use networks but before I billed directly I looked into it. Here is what I know:
1. You can call them and let them know you want to be on there list as an approved vendor for there network but will not agree to there terms. (pricing) You will have to explain that you just want to be added to there data base for future customer purposes. Let them know you will not expect any refferals but will accept them if they agree to your prices.
2. They will ask you some basic questions and you will need your EIN# ready for tax purposes.
SGC Eastern Region MGR.-Tom Reid He should be able to direct you.

Re: Getting set up
I tried to set up with LYNX Network but not accept their pricing. I want to be on their database and be able to verify coverage. They said that it was not possible. So if I want to bill the company directly and set my own prices, I am not able to call and verify coverage prior to the repair, because when I call the number on the back of the card it will in most cases connect me with a LYNX rep. and I am not on their list.
I hope I have better luck with SGN.

Re: Getting set up
After wrangling and wringing my hands over insurance work for the past year or so and analyzing the real cost of time involved with dealing with Lynx and SGC, I have formally decided to go to a cash only basis with my customers and let them send in the invoice for reimbursement. When you add up the real time of getting referrals, paperwork, and money chasing, I believe it to be a fool's pursuit. Because, REALLY, folks, we are dealing with such a small ticket item, and such a marginal profit, AND these monolithic entities make us bow and scrape and dance to their tune?
As Dennis Miller would say "I don't mean to get off on a rant here, but", I wonder if any of the true pro's (bfenne, OGR, gracegoldstar, billy, juiceman, et.al.) have considered, what with the voluminous information on "direct billing', establishing a clearinghouse to pool our collective resources where repair people can go to to direct bill for their service.
I have never tried to direct bill, but it would be nice if I could go to a site that would tell me where to fax or mail my invoice for that carrier. Then, we could collectively end the networks dominance of our trade.
My present chosen course of action is to begin by collecting cash payment for all jobs and telling the customer to call their company or agent to find out where to send it for reimbursement, Then, I will select one customer's invoice and direct bill their insurance company, and document the results.
As time goes by, and information accummalates I will post it on a forum, (or possibly create a site) to share this information.
If a company will not accept and process a direct bill, then they will be reimbursing their customer when they receive the invoice from them.
Pardon my cynicism, or call me stupid but it is time to JUST SAY NO!!!
STOP THIS INSANITY!!!!
